A lifelong lover of music, Bill gravitated to high school marching band, received all-district honors and was elected band president before graduating from Cross Plains High School in 1954 (later in life he became an addict of the 70’s variety show “Hee-Haw” due to his country music roots and the humor/talent of Buck Owens and Roy Clark).
